Electoral jargon can often feel confusing, technical, or disconnected from everyday life, especially in the environmental and climate policy filled with abbreviations, legislative language, and insider terms. This training will support participants to define electoral and political jargon, explore how it shows up in climate and environmental spaces, and identify the barriers it can create for community understanding, engagement, and power building.

Participants will:

• Review common legislation, acronyms, and complex terms,
• Examine case studies of campaigns that succeeded or struggled based on their tailored messaging to the communities they serve, and
• Look at examples of organizations that effectively translate complicated issues into accessible, community centered language.

The session will also include an interactive exercise where participants practice translating high level/ legislation into clear, relevant language for their specific audience, building their skills to communicate political issues in ways that are understandable, actionable, and rooted in community experience.
