Trainings
Build the skills, strategy, and capacity needed to win

Stronger movements are built through shared learning, rigorous strategy, and meaningful connection.
Our training program helps activists, advocates, organizations, and coalitions strengthen the knowledge, skills, and infrastructure needed to build power, advance bold climate policies, and sustain collective action over time.
As part of the Lab’s broader theory of change, we believe the climate movement is more effective when it is coordinated and collaborative, clear about its vision and goals, grounded in evidence, and committed to equity and justice. Training is one of the key ways we help make that vision real.
We design training that does more than just deliver information.
Our trainings help participants translate research, field-tested practices, and strategic insight into action. Whether groups are refining campaign plans, strengthening public engagement, deepening equity practices, or building stronger leadership pipelines, our trainings are designed to help people make smarter decisions, work more effectively together, and increase their impact.
Our Training Strategy Helps Advocates and Organizations to:
-
Build the skills, tools, and strategic capacity needed to win
We equip participants with practical frameworks, evidence-based tools, and actionable strategies that strengthen campaigns, organizations, and long-term movement infrastructure.
-
Strengthen the connective tissue of the movement
We create spaces for coordination, shared learning, and cross-organizational collaboration, helping climate advocates work across silos and build stronger relationships throughout the movement ecosystem.
-
Accelerate the synthesis, sharing, and adoption of evidence-based practices
We help translate research, experimentation, and field learning into practical application so organizations can make more informed strategic choices and improve outcomes over time.
Our Core Training Principles
Evidence-based and field-tested
Our trainings draw from behavioral science, data-backed, political research, movement learning, field experimentation, and practitioner experience. We focus on what helps advocates make smarter strategic choices in practice, not just in theory.
We prioritize learning experiences that participants can immediately apply to real campaigns, teams, and organizational challenges. Our goal is to move from insight to implementation.
We believe people learn best when they are actively engaged. Our trainings are interactive, reflective, and grounded in the lived experience and wisdom participants already bring.
We frame training as part of a broader strategy to build durable political power. That means supporting stronger organizing, leadership, persuasion, coordination, and long-term movement capacity.
Climate progress that is not equitable is not durable. We integrate equity and justice into our content, facilitation, and strategy to help organizations align values with practice.
Movements are built through trust, connection, and shared purpose. Our training helps participants deepen collaboration, strengthen relationships, and build a stronger sense of collective possibility.
Our Training Pedagogy
Rooted in action, connection, and transformation
At the Climate Advocacy Lab, we believe learning should be experiential, participatory, and deeply connected to real-world action. Our training pedagogy is designed to equip climate advocates not only with knowledge and skills, but also with the confidence, relationships, and critical thinking needed to sustain and grow the movement.
We ground our trainings in historical context, movement strategy, and power analysis so advocates can better understand the systems shaping climate injustice and the pathways to change.
We cultivate leadership through hands-on skill-building in organizing, strategy, and campaign execution, ensuring participants can apply what they learn immediately.
Conflict is inevitable in movement spaces. We integrate conflict management and relational leadership skills so advocates can navigate tension in ways that strengthen organizations, coalitions, and relationships.
Inspired by popular education, our trainings are built to activate the wisdom participants already carry. We create space for reflection, exchange, and collective learning rather than one-way instruction.
We create spaces of belonging and collaboration so participants leave feeling connected, energized, and part of something larger than themselves.
