    Climate change–induced immigration to the United States has mixed influences on public support for climate change and migrants

    April 19, 2023

    Awareness of climate-induced migration may increase certain “pro-social” responses but not others. Belief in climate-induced immigration seems related to greater climate change concerns and support for climate policies. However, one new study showed that reading about climate-induced migration may cause greater hostility toward immigrants. This article argues that more research is needed to determine how to foster support on climate action while minimizing backlash against immigrants.
