Know your Rights Webinar with National Immigration Law Center (NILC)

July 23, 2025

We’re excited to invite you to a Know Your Rights training hosted by the National Immigration Law Center (NILC), Climate Ready Program (CRP), and Climate Advocacy Lab (CAL).

This virtual training will provide essential guidance for organizational leaders, staff, and volunteers on how to respond if confronted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)—whether at your home, office, or in the community. The session will cover legal rights, what ICE can and can’t legally do, updates on ICE tactics, appropriate responses to ICE interactions, and what to do if someone is detained.

As frontline organizations building capacity to work on climate and environmental justice issues, we also navigate increased personal and operational risks in today’s volatile political climate. Members of our community have already faced harassment or ICE-related threats. Even those not directly targeted are working in communities that may be vulnerable to immigration enforcement actions.

Why this matters:
Organizations rooted in immigrant, undocumented, or mixed-status communities may be disproportionately impacted by increased enforcement actions.
Staff, volunteers, and community members deserve to feel confident, informed, and safe.
Being prepared helps you maintain organizational resilience and respond responsibly to crisis situations.

Speakers:
Jennifer Ibañez Whitlock – Senior Policy Counsel, NILC
Jessie Hahn – Senior Counsel, Labor & Employment Policy, NILC
