Campaign Planning and Organizing Part 3: People-Powered Organizing

The power of organizing is the ability to apply enough people-power to win – and keep – the changes we need for a future in which we can all thrive. This power is a renewable resource built through the trust and mutual accountability fostered by the relationships the organizer seeds between members and the organization, members and the organizer, and members and other members. This session will equip you to apply organizing principles and evidence-based advocacy insights to your work with volunteers.

    Fighting Digital Climate Disinformation

Disinformation about climate change and the necessary solutions to the climate crisis are rampant in digital and social media. Recent weeks have seen videos circulating that attempt to discredit the basis for climate science and advertisements featuring blatant greenwashing by the fossil fuel industry's PR machine.
In order to build people power, climate advocates and communicators have to equip themselves with effective countermeasures to galvanize public engagement. Join the Climate Advocacy Lab and our expert panel as we discuss the current state of play of climate disinformation online as well as tactics to combat digital disinformation through inoculation theory. Attendees will learn ways to protect their audiences against the harms of climate disinformation as well as build trust and grow their supporter base.
    Panelists include:

Ilana Berger, Media Matters for America
Dr. John Cook, Skeptical Science and Monash University
    Deb Lavoy, Reality Team
