The climate movement is organizing in a time of both opportunity and challenge. Under this administration, the political landscape is complex, full of big moments trying to advance bold climate solutions, but also full of hard choices, competing priorities, and powerful opposition. In this moment, the question is not if we act, but how we act together.

Last week, Maliyah Womack and I were very, very lucky to be able to represent the Lab at the Netroots Nation Conference in New Orleans! One of the best trainings I attended was a session on free tools for digital programs, led by Josh Klemons. Read on for more, and check out Josh’s free tools newsletter (yeah, a whole newsletter devoted to free tools for campaigners!).

In this session we’ll explore the various levels of security among messaging platforms (for example, Signal vs. WhatsApp vs. Slack), security vs. usability tradeoffs, and options for secure data storage and document sharing.

Over the last few months we have been hosting trainings on cybersecurity, and a lot of folks have asked about cloud storage and how to navigate the options in a secure way. We’ll walk you through the pitfalls to watch out for and options you have for securing your assets.

This session prepares climate advocates to respond effectively to security incidents while creating lasting organizational security practices.
