Shifting Power to Real, Everyday People
Within the climate movement, there’s lots of talk about technology–the types of technologies required to “decarbonize the future”, the funding required for each technology, and the efficacy of the adoption of new technologies. The Energy Democracy Project is working to shift the conversation to de-center technology and instead talk about the power behind decision-making for and against technologies: how centralized control over our energy systems perpetuate injustice across race and class; and how a reimagined, people-powered energy future is not only possible…it’s necessary for a just transition of our economies.
