Lately, I’ve been thinking about how expensive it feels to simply live while being aware. Aware of the injustices everyday people are facing. This issue is more personal than usual. I want to take a moment to talk about what it feels like to navigate rising bills and rising temperatures at the same time and how to sustain self care in the midst of it all.

Core organizing tactics help no matter what movement you’re in and it’s important we recognize our power and our network, and work in solidarity across movements. In particular, I encourage you to lean into relational organizing; read on for a refresher on this tactic and how to utilize it in local organizing.

This month, I want to uplift the legacy of Black organizers who’ve taught us how to fight at the intersections – of race, land, labor, gender, climate, and liberation. When the world tells us to pick one lane, Black movements remind us: We are the lane.

We’re all talking (or just worrying) about AI. Some of us are deeply concerned about the climate, water, and labor impacts of this growing technology. In this newsletter, I’ll be sharing some resources for engaging with AI, and talking about our upcoming AI training series.

Recent acts of violence and injustice—here in Minneapolis–St. Paul and in communities across the country—are not only social and political crises; they are health crises. As we navigate ongoing harm and uncertainty, it is essential that we care for ourselves and one another.

First, I’d like to say that I hope you and yours had a restful and rejuvenating holiday break. The Lab team took some extended time off, and we’re all making our way back to our desks this week, preparing for what is already shaping up to be a busy 2026. We’ve all got a lot of work ahead of us, and we’re excited to provide the resources and support you need to kick some ass this year.
