As relational organizers have long known, ordinary people can be some of the most persuasive and effective communicators to their friends, family members, and neighbors. This panel will discuss the promise of climate conversations as a way to decrease the gap between high climate concern and low feelings of efficacy, as well as some of the difficulties and ethical considerations when it comes to testing and measuring the tactic.

Peer-to-peer texting (P2P) often feels like a complicated new tool to learn (and pay for) with uncertain payoff. However, the ability of the tool to cut through digital clutter and create an authentic, relationship-building conversation is extremely powerful.

Participants will learn:
*Strategies for organizing volunteer-led texting parties
*Specific “try this at home” techniques for increasing the commitment and success of your volunteer texters
*Different ways to link SMS as a tactic with your daily organizing and campaign work

In this 60 minute training, we will dive into the root causes of the climate crisis. We will be particularly focusing on a race, class and gender analysis. Next, we will be talking through why it is important to have these analyses when organizing, launching campaigns and working in coalition spaces. Lastly, we will walk participants through how to develop their own narrative power around the story of self, story of us and story of now.

This is a conversation about organizing, metrics, tracking, and building power. Join Ari Trujillo-Wesler (Sierra Club), Brittany Bennett (Sunrise Movement), and Ned Howey (Tectonica Digital Campaign Solutions) in a panel discussion about organizing, measuring its elements, tracking success, and trying to figure out how to use scarce resources to work with supporters, members, and volunteers to build power.
